Xuan Zhou is a Houston-based designer creating thoughtful, functional hospitality, restaurant, and commercial interiors.
XUAN ZHOU
DESIGNER
Born and raised in Luoyang, one of Chinaβs historic cultural capitals, Xuan grew up surrounded by art and architecture, influenced by two engineer parents who shared a deep appreciation for both. She began drawing at an early age and later came to the United States for college, earning her degree in interior design from Kansas State University.
Her experiences across China and the United States continue to shape a design perspective that balances Eastern sensibility with contemporary Western influences. Rather than applying a fixed visual formula, Xuan approaches each project as its own story, responding to the client, brand, site, budget, schedule, and the way the space will be used.
Before establishing her independent practice, Xuan worked with internationally recognized architecture and design firms including Gensler and Perkins&Will, gaining experience across corporate, commercial, and medical interiors. Her transition into independent practice grew out of the creation of BlendIn Coffee Club, a project that allowed her to shape a brand and space from the ground up and confirmed her decision to build a studio of her own.
Today, her work focuses primarily on hospitality and commercial interiors, while she also takes on select residential projects for long-term clients and personal referrals. Across each project, she combines functionality, material expression, and atmosphere to create spaces with a distinct identity.
Outside of design, Xuan often turns to sourdough and other forms of baking as a way to slow down and unwind. As a mother of two, she values the balance between creative work, family life, and the everyday moments that shape both.
